Outpatient treatment's primary difference is that you go home at the end of the day. Since you don't have the built in sober support of a residential program, our primary goal is your sobriety and helping you to develop outside sober supportive activities through a variety of channels such as 12-step involvement, church, sober social groups, etc.
What does treatment consist of at Outpatient and how long will I have to be here?
We provide group and individual counseling services at a frequency dictated by your needs. The range of services can be from daily to monthly. We provide Intensive Outpatient and traditional Outpatient levels of care. We also provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management for our clientele. Length of stay is dependent on two things, what level of care you start at, and your commitment to your recovery. The minimum stay is generally around 6 months with Relapse Prevention typically being our longest level of care.
What groups do you offer?
We currently offer a 5 day, 3 day, and 3 evening Intensive Outpatient Program. This is followed by a two day a week Relapse Prevention Groups, and then a one day a week Aftercare Program. In addition we offer a women's issues group and a men's trauma group.
I work during the day; do you have hours to accommodate me?
OPCC is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30am-8:30pm, Fridays 8:30am-5pm for treatment services, and Saturdays from 10am-3pm for intakes. We provide our clinical programs both days and evenings to allow for folks who are currently working or have child care issues.
Are there any restrictions to coming to Outpatient?
We have no restrictions regarding where you are from, what gender you are, what insurance you have or what substance you struggle with. We do only treat adults aged 18 and older. We screen diligently at your intake for any psychiatric problems we feel we would not be able to address fully at this location, and may make a referral to a better suited outpatient program should we find this is the case. We also have some guidelines around the use of narcotic pain medications and certain psychiatric medications with addictive potential. If you have questions about a medication you are taking and it's impact on your attendance in Outpatient you can contact our Program Director at 860-714-3704.
I speak Spanish, do you have programs to accommodate me?
We have an Adult Latino Outpatient Program at our 16 Coventry Street location. We offer monolingual and bilingual clients a similar outpatient program. The Adult Latino program offers a daytime Intensive Outpatient, Relapse Prevention, and Aftercare program. For more information you can contact the Program Manager, Steven Diaz, at 860-524-0046).
