ADRC offers a comprehensive and challenging student internship program for
individuals pursuing education and careers in addiction treatment. Each year the Agency
accepts 12 to 15 students who are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
The degrees represented included Master's and Bachelor's in social work, Master's in
Counseling, and Associate's in Drug and Alcohol Recovery Counseling (DARC). Recent
schools represented include the University of Connecticut, Central Connecticut State
University, St. Joseph's College, Manchester Community College, Tunxis Community College,
and others.
The program includes orientation activities and monthly intern group meetings.
Depending on the program placement, duties may include conducting assessments; individual,
group and family counseling; maintaining written documentation; and, participating in
staff meetings and individual and group supervision.
Applications are now being accepted for Master's Level placements
for Academic Year 2012-2013 and for Summer 2012.
