ADRC's Detoxification Center is a 35-bed medically monitored detoxification program for
adults. Admission decisions and skilled nursing interventions are provided by Registered
Nurses. Each client is assigned to a counselor and they receive individual and/or group
counseling daily. AA and NA meetings are offered on site five (5) evenings a week.
Referrals for continuing treatment are encouraged and arranged prior to discharge.
The goal is to safely detox clients from alcohol and/or drugs and to provide
education and motivation for referral.
The Detoxification Center is open for admission 365 days a year, 24 hours a day,
7 days a week, depending on bed availability. The Detox Center is located on CT Transit
bus lines 50, 52, 54 and is easily accessible from major highways. Clients may be
referred from any provider, social service agency or by self. The Detox Center is
handicap accessible.
The length of stay is individualized, with a maximum of five (5) days. The Detoxification
Center's average length of stay is 3 days. Clients whose medical and/or psychiatric problems
cannot be managed at this level will be referred to the higher level of care. The
Detoxification Center is licensed for Medical Triage where prospective clients can be assessed
and observed.
